In psychology and mental health, resilience refers to your ability to bounce back from and even thrive in the face of adversity. Mental strength or resilience factors can provide a kind of mental immunity, protecting against adverse psychological outcomes such as mental health problems, and promoting mental wellness. We know that levels of resilience are associated  with managing  a range of issues such as anxiety, stress, trauma and depression.

While our levels of resilience will be determined to an extent  by factors such as our genes, our upbringing, and our environment, we know that mental resilience training can and does improve resilience (see Joyce et al., 2017 for a metanalysis). All our courses build or enhance specific aspects of your resilience and are based on research evidence.

Unlike therapy, here, at the the resilient mind by von Lerse, we help you to increase your ability develop sustainable coping skills and support your personal development before your problems become unmanageable. See us as your personal mental resilience trainers !

Training together will help you to work with challenges, frustration and unhelpful habits and create more functional and practical ways of handling them. We are an integrated virtual development centre.

Each of our psychologists has been selected through a rigorous process and brings their specific, unique expertise in resilience. All have a doctorate in psychology. Some are trained practitioner psychologists, and are accredited to work clinically as psychological therapists. Others are experienced in academic, research and outreach training work and bring this unique expertise to their consultations and courses.

This blend makes us confident that the online-courses and live consultations we offer are high quality and meet premium standards.

Here at the resilient mind by von Lerse, we know that one size does not fit all and learning new ways of thinking and behaving can be tricky.

Our offer is unique and different: each online course is tailored to a specific topic. They are a combination of pre-recorded content for you to watch and listen to in your own time, anywhere and everywhere alongside your live private consultations that takes place at your convenience.The live sessions will provide you with an opportunity to explore how the ideas and skills apply to your experience, troubleshoot difficulties, and you will have an opportunity to to practice the skills live with your psychologist.Of course, you can then purchase as many follow-up consultations as you wish!

Check out our free taster sessions in each course for more details. Our courses help you to develop your own resilience toolkit to use in your everyday life. All courses Includesome theory, to help which make the science underlying the approaches transparent and approachable. You are also offered experiential exercises, home practice and reflective tasksas. an integral part of the online course, to support skills development.

The one-to-one sessions will provide you with an opportunity to discuss your experiences.

Your psychologist will work with you to understand the nature of your difficulties, what you need, and what you want, and they will draw upon their wealth of experience to help you to apply psychological models and ideas to your situation.

The sessions will be collaborative and interactive and may involve live skills practices and experiential exercises These might include eyes closed activities involving visualisations, or meditation practices.

The online courses, with a blend of pre-recorded material and live sessions, may lend themselves to those who enjoy working independently, are often on the go, and want to fit their self-development into their lifestyle.

Courses work well for those who have an idea of what they want to work on, and we have specific course is tailored to your particular needs. All courses come with a life-consultation as part of the content.

You can also engage with live-consultations only. They offer a reflective space for you to explore emotional issues with a trusted psychologist who can tailor their approach to what you need in each moment.

Live-consultations work well if you are finding it scary face emotional issues alone, allowing you to develop your new skills in a safe and kind environment, before applying them to your day-to-day life.

Confidentiality is key at

Whatever you talk about with your clinician is confidential.

There are some specific exceptions to this rule. If we believe there is an immediate and serious risk to you or someone else, we would be duty-bound to let, an appropriate professional know, such as your GP.

We always endeavour to discuss this with you first and welcome your involvement in this process as much as is possible.

Here at, we are take confidentiality very seriously and have formulated detailed privacy policies that give you a clear overview of how the data we collected and stored.

Moreover, we are registered with the ICO, the independent authority in the UK that upholds the information rights of the public.

Practitioner psychologists have completed doctoral-level training of at least seven years, and are likely to have several years of experience post-qualification.

Their traininginvolves developing a deep understanding of a range of psychological models or approaches alongside scientific skills to evaluate and conduct research.

All the approaches we draw upon are evidence-based. This means that we only use methods or ways of working that are well established and have been shown to be effective for working with specific areas of difficulty. 

Psychologists’ work is usually supervised by another experienced clinician and practitioner psychologists are registered by the government body, the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Counsellors and coaches will tend to train in a single model or way of working, and their training does not usually include doctoral-level study.There is no requirement for them to register with an accrediting body.

For live sessions, we apply a 48-hour cancellation policy.

This means that if you do not provide us with at least 48 hours’ notice for cancelling or rearranging a private one to one or group session, you will be charged the full session fee.

Some insurance policies cover one to one therapy sessions. If you wish to have your sessions with us funded by your insurance, please contact us so that we can advise you.

Our practitioner psychologists are accredited with theHealth and Care Professions Council (HCPC)as clinical or counsellingpsychologists.

The HCPC is a government body that regulates UK Health and Care Professions. Practitioner psychologist is a protected title, meaning that only those registered with the HCPC can use the title. This ensures the quality and safety of practitioner psychologists in the UK.

There is growing evidence that developing your skills and abilities online is just as effective as face-to-face.

Moreover, at, all our online courses offer face-to-face video conferencing in real-time. In this way, you don’t get a real human connection that is important for the process of resilience development and enhances outcomes.

Psychology is in the business of change. In other words, psychologists research what processes are at work when people are changing – or not changing.!

Your online course is based on research that allows us to understand what tools, training and exercises are most helpful in supporting you to have a more resilient self, and to sustain that change.

We share the research with you and discuss. And the underlying psychological processes, so that you are not only how to become more resilient, but also why we are using the techniques we are using.

Why is this important? Because transparency builds strong relationships and effective change.
