Resilience is the ability to stay afloat while you are in the midst of a storm.
Resilience is the ability to stay afloat while you are in the midst of a storm. The wonderful Eunice Mulamula, a Community Psychiatric Nurse, says:
"In my life, I have met difficult situations, challenges such as discrimination, illness and loss of loved ones; this led to disappointment, sadness, anger, among other emotions. I felt defeated and at times felt like disappearing from the face of the world, or sometimes when I went to sleep, it felt good because I found relief and challenge was waking up in the morning relieving the same experience again and again. However, I knew as long as I was still alive, life had to go on, and I had to be me in my capacity as a mum, a wife, a sibling and an employee. I, however, detached from friendships and other relationships because I could only deal with so much. I remember my mother telling me it’s not finished until you die. Keep fighting till your last breath, so I‘ve always reminded myself of that."
